It's Sunday and I went to a fancy bookstore by our home with one of my girlfriends. It's raining and we both felt like a big mug of tea and a great book. Unfortunately, we've both read all of mine. So off we went to expensive part of town... The mall. I was immediately drawn to the cover of this book due to my vast love for bees. I started to read one of the poems inside, before I knew it, I was crying in the aisle of a packed bookstore. Luckily the sales clerk told me she had the same response and she loved the book so much she reread it often just to have the same feelings. Books are sometimes the only way for us to be able to connect with certain feelings. Rupi Kaur is a beautifully tragic poet, who writes from the depths of her soul. Through her writing you get a glimpse of the pain she went through in her life. It is exquisite and heartbreaking all at once. I loved this book and I will own a copy always. |

This was a text book for my mother, who is currently getting her degree in psychology. She found it incredibly interesting and reccomended that I read it myself.
This book is enlightening and I feel as though it explains why certain members of society act as they do... PTSD isn't a condition strictly for war vets. Anyone who has lived through a traumatic event in their life can develope it. Post Traumatic, literally means after a trauma. The Body Keeps the Score, explains how trauma has a phsiological response in our bodies and how even years after said trauma, our brains and our bodies are still very much effected. Very interesting read, especially if you know someone with PTSD. |
