Do you have a "go to" author for certain genres? I do. Nora Roberts is my romance author. I can usually finish one of her books in a day and I think about the characters in between readings. I love her.
Recently, her writing has developed and she's writing a lot more trilogies, which I adore. This one was amazing! It has all the good ingredients for a Emma Reccomendation: Intrique, Violence, Humor, Love and of course Animals. Only this one includes some Irish folklore and scenery! I would even read their conversations in an Irish accent.
Book one - Is about a long lost cousin, Iona, coming home, to a place she's never been before. She's frail at first, easily injured emotionally and physically and very naive to the dangers around her. She doesn't know who she is or what she's capable of yet. Then she meets her family, her kin. More importantly, she meets Branna, the patriarch of her Irish clan family and the friends she's always dreamed of. She finds love, action and a connection to horses that makes her character likeable and sweet. The other two female characters (Branna and Meara) are strong-willed and help their new family member thrive in her new environment. OF COURSE there has to be magic!
Book Two - Shawdow Spell, which I will call The Hawk Story, takes you a little deeper into the character, Meara, who's connection is to hawks. The story also brings her together with a male character that you secretly wanted her with in book 1. There are a few more fight scenes in this book than in book 1 and the tension is definitely building.
Book 3 - Blood Magick, the story of Branna - Brings all of the characters together, it answers all of the questions you had from previous books. It's the climax and the end of the story. Amazing fight scenes, magical scorcery, Irish legends and more... Nora Roberts truly out did herself here. Branna is the kind of strength and compassion, women all long for. She is pure power and undeniable love. Her animal connection is to the hound and she is marvelous.
I could not put these books down! I love this series and I was a little sad when they were over...
Happy Reading!
