The Notebook – The first time I read this book, I surprised myself by the kind of raw emotion I could feel from reading. I was young, maybe 18, and the world seemed to be so big and full of possibilities. I have always been a hopeless romantic, so of course, I loved reading romance novels. The Notebook, however, isn’t your typical romance novel. It starts off with an elderly man, reading an old weathered, warn out, journal, to a woman in a hospital bed… Nicholas Sparks has the kind of talent, every author dreams of. His words can remove the reader from their seat and throw them directly into the book. I was taken to 1946, where a war veteran (Noah Calhoun) had recently returned home from WWII. His father passed away leaving him an old farm house. Naturally, Noah began to fix it up. |
Many times, in the book, you’re taken from present day to 1946. From there, you’re taken even further back to the 30’s. Like when Noah reminisces about meeting Allie Nelson, a rich girl, who quickly steals his heart… Noah and Allie are the kind of couple who argue often and make up swiftly. The kind of couple whose passion for one another lasts a lifetime.
Ultimately, this is their story. A beautiful tale of passion and intrigue. These delicate pages were made for anyone who has ever loved, or even those desperately wanting to find love.

Because I love Nicholas Sparks' writing so much, I have enclosed a link to his website. Which gives a synopsis of The Notebook, in his own words... Happy Reading, Friends!
