The Pilot’s Wife… I’m kind of at a loss for words here. Without giving too much of the book away, I can’t divulge many details. I can say that it held my attention pretty well. It made me angry and a little sad. The book begins with the death of the main character’s (Kathryn Lyon) husband. He died due to his plane exploding near the coast of Ireland. Leaving many questions to be answered. The author molds the emotions perfectly, almost as if she’s been through the situation before. I cried a few times while reading of Kathryn’s torment. Imagining for myself what I would do if something similar happened to me. Tragedy always seems a little closer to home for us, because of the military. I would assume a pilot’s family feels the same way. Soon after the death of her husband rumors of a second wife and possibly a second family emerge… What would you do? Would you want to know if there had been infidelity in your marriage? Or stay ignorant to the betrayal, knowing there was nothing that could be done now?... This book is passionate and heart wrenching but it will keep your attention and keep you turning to the next page, where you will find Kathryn’s redemption and personal growth. |

I have read so many books on chickens... It was one of my dreams to own a farm and even though the military took us to the city, it didn't stop us from buying a small piece of land with an old farmhouse, building a little chicken coop and having our very own flock. I have numbered these books from 5-1, 1 being my absolute favorite... Enjoy! 5.) Chickens In Your Backyard by Nick and Gail Luttmann - Great pictures! With some valuable information, though I felt as though there was a lot left to the imagination which isn't so good when you're just starting out. I wish they would have gone more in depth on coop care and how to properly secure the run.
